How to style women’s blazers for Autumn/Winter

As the colder weather creeps in, you’re likely starting to put your summer fits away and shop for your Autumn/Winter wardrobe. The incoming season is all about cosy knits and comfy layering to keep you bang on trend as the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, but there are a few ways to hang on to some of your key wardrobe pieces that can be worn all year-round.

Here we’ve come up with 4 seasonal ways to style the most versatile of all-time wardrobe staples – women’s blazers.

1.Layering with knitwear

Longline and double breasted women’s blazers are absolutely perfect for this style, as are boyfriend fit blazers that offer a bit more room for layering up the cosiness. The perfect look for when the nights get colder, a chunky knit jumper with mum jeans, crisp white trainers and a classic blazer is the perfect autumnal combo. Mix things up when it comes to night time by swapping the sneakers out for a pump heel and change the mum jeans to a skinny fit and take your blazer layering quickly from day out to date night.

2. Unitards sports-luxe

One of the top trends for 2022, full length unitards, offer the perfect mix between comfort and style. Keep things simple by layering a classic blazer over a colour block unitard with ribbed white socks and chunky trainers or high tops. Complete your autumn sports-luxe look with a baseball cap and tote and you’re ready to go.

3. Blazer and coat combo

Another 2022 trend that will be big for Autumn/Winter is layering blazers underneath a coat or trench. Start with a base layer that will still be seen underneath the other top layering elements, such as a thin knit, long sleeved roll neck, ideally in a single block colour. Next add a textured or patterned blazer over the top to add contrast to your layered look. Finally, complete your Autumnal blazer look with an overcoat or trench in a complimentary shade to your initial base layer. Be careful not to over do the colour matching as you want each layer to be able to stand out in this look rather than blending together.

4. The blazer power-suit

Suit co-ords have been on trend for a while, and they’ll be staying throughout Autumn and Winter 2022. In keeping with another current trend, layer a roll neck jumper under a double breasted women’s blazer with wide leg trousers in a matching colour block shade, and you’re covering off both the 90s revival vibe and the power suit trend in one outfit.

To keep with this season’s on trend colours, think base layers of sage or khaki/dark green and vibrant burnt orange, and keep any textured or patterned layering in line with the season by incorporating tweed and brushed fabrics in darker shades. Denim and womens organic t-shirts always goes perfectly with a blazer, and for this season anything goes! Think distressed elements and rips and don’t be afraid to try out some more unusual denim washes.
